Until recently being inspired by a Chinese Brush Painting Class to be more artistic, I haven't been updating this profile. See while i do love being artistic, I tend to be lazy or busy. i have had no traditional training in the arts, except for the classes I took years ago in high school and the ocassional few I've had since then. My career is that of a scientist (I have a BS in biology and am working on my PhD in Infectious Diseases and Microbiology). Yet despite that I've always had an artistic spirit and have dabbled in just about anything that interests me. I've always been fond of watercolors even though i'm sure that I don't practice the proper techniques. I've also done a little of everything from silk screening (one of my favs) to ceramics to calligraphy, pastels, charcoals, etc in the past. i think the only things that really intimidate me are oil and acrylic paints. I've been told my almost all of my art teachers that I'm a perfectionist. This being that in school I would turn in projects a week late when I was sure they were perfect or in my more recent sumi-e class telling my teacher everything I didn't like about something I painted while everyone else thought it was wonderful. For this reason I haven't posted everything I've made on this site. It's not the pieces are worth putting up, it's more that the photographs of those pieces are not high enough quality.
